About the Role
Job Summary:
The Lead Family Coordinator will lead family engagement efforts, focusing on
empowering families through lived experience and advocacy. This role involves collaborating with
families, community partners, and family-run organizations to enhance service delivery and inform
policymaking within the System of Care (SOC). The Lead Family Coordinator will advance family roles,
support parent peer services, and ensure diverse community engagement.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Participate as a full member of the SOC management team to accomplish the goals and
objectives of the SOC initiative.
• Promote the mission and vision of the SOC, including the values and principles of families as
partners, throughout all aspects of care within the SOC team and externally with communities.
• Work in partnership with existing family-run organizations (e.g., PACER, ARC, FamilyWise, Family
Voices of MN) to enhance support and resources for families.
• Use lived experience to assist families with goal setting and developing individualized plans.
• Act as a liaison between families and the SOC, integrating family perspectives into services and
advancing parent peer support roles and family leadership development.
• Inform policy and practice recommendations based on family experiences to improve SOC
outcomes.
• Collaborate with culturally diverse community groups to promote their involvement in the SOC.
• Advocate for families’ needs and build relationships with community organizations and
stakeholders.
• Exhibit strong communication skills, fostering collaboration within the team and with external
partners.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on program performance and trends.
• Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and Transition Services Supervisor to ensure that
family education and engagement activities align with grant goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Prior Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant life experience (5+ years) may substitute for formal education. Candidates with lived
experience working within systems of care, or personal experience navigating and overcoming
complex systems, are highly encouraged to apply.
• Experience in advocacy, coalition building, and community engagement.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass background checks.

Salary: $21.23 to $24.62 hourly depending on qualifications.
Travel: Extensive travel within a five-county area and occasional statewide travel.
