About the Role
JOB SUMMARY:
The Community Liaison will be crucial in fostering community engagement and enhancing
mental health and substance use services for minority populations, including Latino, Somali, Native American, Hmong, Karen, and LGBTQIA+ communities. This role involves strengthening referral pathways, ensuring access to both telehealth and in-person services, and promoting culturally and linguistically appropriate support. The Liaison will collaborate with youth, families, community stakeholders, and cultural leaders to expand service access, deliver evidence-based practices, and provide support to prevent substance misuse and promote mental health. The role also includes supporting youth with career opportunities in mental health and substance use treatment.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Act as a liaison, facilitating access to essential services and providing support across Kandiyohi, McLeod,
Meeker, Renville, and Yellow Medicine Counties.
• Build and maintain relationships with cultural and faith-based leaders, community advocates, and key
stakeholders to enhance culturally and linguistically appropriate service delivery.
• Engage with referral sources to improve service accessibility and delivery.
• Support youth and families through case management and evidence-based interventions aimed at positive mental health outcomes and substance misuse prevention.
• Coordinate and deliver training on evidence-based practices for staff, families, and youth.
• Collaborate with the social media and marketing coordinator to promote mental health and substance use
awareness through media campaigns.
• Maintain and update culturally responsive resources such as translated materials and community
calendars.
• Assist families in navigating mental health, education, and chemical dependency systems.
• Participate in child and family team meetings and provide information on community resources.
• Help youth build skills for success and foster positive connections between parents and community
professionals.
• Attend relevant workshops and training to enhance role-specific knowledge and skills.
• Make appropriate referrals to clinical and treatment services as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Fluency in the languages spoken by the communities served, with a deep understanding of their cultures.
• Experience with educational systems, children’s mental health, chemical dependency, and community
resources.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications preferred.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, as needed.
• Active membership in the community being served, with strong local connections.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as both a team member and leader.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and responsibly.

empower parents.
• Energy, initiative, creativity, and a willingness to try new approaches.
TRAVEL:
Extensive travel within the five-county area and occasional statewide travel.
